wish me luck

well they were dry enuff to pull out of the mold. and believe it or not the finish would have been perfect you guys. no bridging and no pinholes. you guys would be proud.

oh and it seems like the mold will be easy to clean also. thank you frekote. LOL

what a freekin emotional roller coaster…

OK, the poor me session is over. next weekends project will be perfect. i can feel it…

dallas, you figured out how to load pictures…im sorry i didnt write up your tutorial. i was planing on doing it at the motel last week. but i didnt have internet access. where are you hosting your pictures? or are you downloading them to the comp cen server?

Don’t be to hard on yourself. You should see the pile of bad carbon parts I have from my learning curve. I don’t care to share how many either because it’s WAY more then two. :o
Someone had a good saying on here along time ago and I only saw it once. Something about how composites will show how much of a perfectionist you are or something… I dunno but it was funny cause it was true that composites are not something easy to learn in your first go around. Maybe if you have Jo Pro standing over your shoulder teaching you it’s easy, but for us mortals it’s not a cake walk. One thing that helped me alot is creating check lists that I sign off when the task is complete. I mean everything is on the check list and I try to do everything as close to “perfect” as I can.

I’ve had infusion go great and then I come back the next day to see a hole in the bag, power out, or even the bag tape pulling off because I was to foolish and had it close to the release area. Remember Murphy’s law.

Hope all goes better next weekend.

thanks roto…next weekend will be better im sure.

Once i got the infusion right you fine tune, hell i aint using a infusion resing but now i can get consitant results pin hole free any time and every time. But ill tell you this once you find a system that works with your materials stick to it.

I agree with brainstorm 100% there is a million ways to skin a cat! Its funny… You had it this time and… Bam!!! The sprinklers got you!!! Who woulda thought… Congrats Doug you made composites central history on your second try.

That’s so odd it’s hilarious!

good morning fellas. im home. my material order didnt come in yet…im trying to find a roll of tacky tape locally. thats all i need to do an infusion today.

anyone here in so call that can loan me a roll of tacky tape untill my order comes in?

Sweet solar power station  the towers are boilers correct? those towers get up to like 2000 deg F don’t they? I don’t understand why the tower doesn’t melt under such heat?

im not sure how hot they get. what ever the temperature it takes to make steam i would think. the more i find out the details i will let you guys know.

the mirrors are directed to the TOP of the tower…thats where the steam is created i think.

this is my first solar plant. so its all new to me…but from what i understand if a bird flies in the path of one of the mirrors…POOF…

i did walk thru a different design solar plant. where the mirrors were shaped like a trough and a pipe was elevated in the middle of the trough, and thats where the steam was created…

what i find fascinating is that the use of steam is what almost 200 years old? and it is still the driving force behind our power generation. even natural gas and coal fired power plants…its steam.

Nuclear too!

yep, forgot about nuclear.

hey roto, is it ok to overlap my flow media in places? im trying to use up my smaller pieces.

Try to butt the edges together and create as little over lap as possible. You will also want to be careful of the edges of the flow media with this Stechlon bag. I’ve been careless in a hurry and had the sharp edges where you cut the media create small holes in the bag. Nothing wrong with using small pieces, just be careful.

15 minutes with the leak detector and all leaks are seal. what an awesome little device:D:D

Yes they are, it makes most of us that went a long time without one wonder why we did so. I know I would like some of the hair back I lost from searching for leaks.

wahoo! SUCCESS!:D:D:D

Wel done mate

Looking Good! Is that the blue from Sollar?

thanks brain:)

thanks roto.

yes, sollar. it is the light blue…

I like the light blue alot more then the dark. It matchs your car better to right? Are you making more or what’s your plan now? I’m thinking your already on ebay looking for spair body panels to use as plugs. :stuck_out_tongue:
