Good job doug looks perfect… You’d did a very nice job with the fabric.
thank you dallas. i am pretty proud…
i like the light blue also. yes its pretty darn close in color.
you know me to well roto:D
right now im making a black set of the hats. im gonna try to sell a set or 2 if i can…
next i think im going to make a set if inside door panels. they are flat so it should be fairley simple…(ya right).
i need to hunt down a piece of glass next week.
i know a carbon fiber targa top would be a huge seller. but its a little over my head right now…
do you guys reccommend shooting an auto clear coat on them to protect them from the sun?
Yes imalways do
what prep work do you do?
then i pulled them, they were kind of tacky. so after i cured them in the oven they were still tacky. im sure it was the spray 3m 77. so i lightly wiped them with mineral spirits to remove the glue. but thats as far as i have gone with them.
any of you guys are welcome to chime in…
is one brand of clear better then the others?
additives?
Get a quick cure automotive clear. It’s expensive an you may have to go out of state to get it Doug. I always recommend sherwin Williams but dupont has 7 minute fast cure clear. Its super simple to shoot.
It’s 7600s if I remember right. Call an autobody storeand ask for quick cure spot clear. Or spot clear they will know what your talking about.
Price is 150 for 2 quarts sprayable sherwin Williams is 250 a gallon.
Now… You xxx get auto clear for 50-75 bux a kit of shopline but it takes longer to cure and allows dust and bugs to walk across the parts… Flys like to get high on urethane!!!
Prep work is chemical wipe and shoot. Shoot with high pressure and high fluid. One quick dust wait 60 seconds then dump a nice heavy coat. When it looks like glass stop. Spot clear doesn’t run at all hardly.
I wanna see the inside of the hat doug!
right on dallas. thank you. it just so happens that i am going to be in nevada next week.
Hey Doug how far from Burbank are you?
If they were tacky still that wasn’t the 3m77 it’s your resin not fully cured. 3m77 doesn’t leave any tack after the part is cured.
im about 2 hours…por que?
heres the inside picture dallas…sorry about the crappy cell phone shot.
really? even out of the oven post cure?
i thought it was the 3m because the back side was normal. no tack…
I HAVE A SMALL LEAK YOU GUYS!!! WHAT DO I DO???
