yes… the resin will dissolve the super77
if you are using gelcoat correctly you don’t need the adhesive.
define correctly
any updates on this yet?
Only letting it “B” stage (not liquid and not fully cured) as the laminate will lay and stay where you place it.
hmmm, tried a different mold today and back to twill cloth-
1 month ago-
today after much reading of forums
its still far from perfect but it confirmed to me that the twill works alot better than plain, also gently heating the gelcoat and apllying more carefully works well.
hopefully next part will be 100% fingers crossed :?
second pic again :?

what he said. Overspray it on your flanges and touch it when it b stages. you can tell when it’s ready when you press on it and leaves a fingerprint but you can’t move it around.

Here is the latest part that we pulled this morning. it was pulled, and wasked off. No polishing has been done to it.
I am very pleased with the finish we are getting now.
I sprayed in Duratec clear topcoat and 77 sprayed in the carbon. It pulled from the mold so nice. I was amazed.
That seat takes a 48 inchpiece of Carbon fiber to go from the top to the bottom of the mold.
That looks awesome! I am getting the hang of it. I am going to purchase an automotive section of a composites company soon cause the owner is moving to Japan to work for a huge composites company
I am very pumped!!!
problems, did you end up fixing your problems by using infusion or did you go back to vac bagging??
can you sum up the main things you changed to get the results?
Thats beautiful Doug !
…is that a racing seat back ? Customer should be very pleased I would think.I have a question regarding handleing the CF Twill…is there always going to be some distortion of the weave in molds that are heavily shaped ?I have a mold that seems to challenge the cloth no matter how I lay it against the gelcoat! :?

yeah I switched some of my materials I am using yellow airtech sealent now instead of the black and a thicker bag as well and went to 1/4 fitting and tubes for all my lines instead of 3/8s and popping out perfect parts now. I just needed to make sure of all my seals and my previous bags had little tears in them that when it was bagged my pleats covered the holes and did not leak until I started infusing.
so you arent infusing them?
sorry, I am infusing everything now, I have infused 16 parts in the last 4 days and all have been perfect, just needed to take more time and switched materials
have you tried bagging with the new materials
i have not tried but the shop I am purchasing infuses everything and that is what their customers expect so I am going to continue that.
Looks great Doug! That Duratec topcoat is worth it’s weight in gold isn’t it?
Yes it is. I am the first one on this board to have tried it. Most of the guys found it through my posts.
I should get a kick back from hawkeye industries. Big John owes me on that one.
L.O.L.l
Like I’ll ever see anything from that.
how long did you let it sit in the mold before you layed your carbon over it and how many layers is that?
