I noticed while shopping for new carbon fiber fabric today that all of the sellers I use seem to have stopped selling carbon nanotubes. There used to be a bunch of resins that contained nanotubes with claims of adding (up to) 30% extra strength but they have vanished.
Does anyone here know what happened to them?
I imagine nobody was using them because their claims weren’t being backed up in the real world and they were so horridly expensive.
I was thinking the same. You really needed the single wall type to make a noticeable difference and even then, it would have needed a lot more than a sprinkle in your resin.
I’d be interested to see how the initial results (that claimed additional strength over carbon fiber) were achieved. The technique seems to have eluded most of us.
Either that or they stopped making them due to a lack of commercial success.
