Tools cleaning system

Hello all,

I’m busy setting up a new composites shop. I’m concerned about about having a neat system for cleaning tools, brushes, sprayguns, ect
What is the best way to go ? Do you use acetone for this or an alternative ?
Which process/system/structure do you recommend ?

At my former classroom, we had a heated thermo cleaning system that used a water base chemical in a Stainless steel tub that was heated. I still have 1 1/2 5 gallons of that and I had sent the heated tub to my FG in Mexico…but that is a long and bad story.

Always scrap off the mass off into cups (place mass into a water bucket) and then use an acetone bucket with a carb cleaner dipper.

The heated cleaning system sounds like a killer tool.

How about using a solvent tank with spray nozle? I know those tanks usually use an oil-disolving solvent for greasy auto parts, BUT the question is… could you safely use acetone in it instead. Acetone is the solvent most of us use for cleaning resin off tools and spray guns.

Get a hold of Safety Clean or look in your local phone book for businesses that deal with solvent tanks and industrial cleaning systems… possibly they offer a cleaning system for composite shops. The nice thing about those companies is they service the equipment for you.

my 2 cents.

Sniff around this website… ( their prices are awesome too once the buyers sets up an account you can gel coat and tooling polyester resin for around $20 to $30 a gallon by the drum or pail. Hard to beat that. They may have some cleaning products, not sure you would have to search their website. Oh yeah… they sell acetone for around $5 a gallon. damn cheap!
