Tinted clear coat anyone?

I read in a thread somewhere that there is a clear coat with a brownish hue to it, just wondering if someone can tell me what the product is?

Does anyone put a tint of black into their clear coat? I ask because I have bought some carbon fiber car parts that almost appear to be tinted. It’s really faint but I swear it looks tinted either brown or black. After looking closely at the part in the sun it does appear to be a very faint browinsh hue. If this a standard automotive clear then why does it have a brownish hue?

Maybe it is gelcoat or resin in front of fiber that is brown… VE are usually brown and epoxies yellow or milky after time.

Tint is also used sometimes for aesthetic purposes, but it is usually in some colour like blue, red, pink… etc, it can be dark or with fine metallic crystals but i doubt that someone would tint to brown?

Duratech from Hawkeye industries has an amber tint.

This might be what it is.
Why though is an auto clear have amber tint? Or is Duratech used for another purpose?

I’ve tinted my clear coat before. Usually a heavier tint close to the edges with a very slight tint toward the center of the part. Also I’ve seen clears tinted with different colors. Looks pretty good, depending on application.
