Questions? VIP or Vacuum Bag

I trying to make an item but it is a complete circle and it is very thin. So Which method would be the best to use. VIP or Vacuum Bag. Or should I try to make a fiberglass mold of it first.

I will not be using a lot of carbon fiber the item is only about inch and half wide across the surface, and it is made of plastic.

Don’t know where to start since it a complete circle.

Thanks for all your help

Still need help with this project. Any help/ideas is needed. Thanks again!!

I don’t have any supplies except for wet layups. Just trying to see what method would work the best so I can buy the right supplies. Thanks

A circle is easy, a sphere is another story and will usually require 2 pieces being glued together.

Is this a 1 1/2" ball? If so, it will be just too small to do, in my opinion…

But if you have real small fingers, then make 2x half molds, prep and lay them up, let it “B” stage and green trim to the edge, pour some cataylsted resin into the mold and bolt it together, then rotate the closed mold to wet out the inside compltetely until late “B” staged or fully cured. Put it away until the next day and then sperate the 2x molds halves and pull the ball out???

Okay trying to make a cover the size of a car steering wheel, if this would help with the size and best method for tackling this. Thanks guys

The outer grip area (I would not want this as it would be slippery and if you didn’t fully cover it in resin, the carbon fiber spliners are nasty…) or the center of the steering wheel???
