Is it ok practice to mold with PER tooling gel coat right on top of a solid plasticine (modeling clay) plug?

You’re talking about making molds on plugs with exposed clay?
No problem, you may just have to clean some clay of the finished mold.
Sometimes the entire plug is made from clay, and a mold made directly from it.

Yeah, I was thinking of making a plug with clay and then just molding right off the clay surface.
Werksberg… wax? wouldn’t the heat from the PER gel coat melt the wax surface?
