Large DIY CNC Milling Machine

I’m looking to come up with some projects to build my portfolio for this machine.

Taking suggestions for some foam plug and prop milling if anyone has any ideas.

Nice work! What part of NC are you in?

Thanks!! The CNC is in Raleigh, but I have work Charlotte as well. Let me know if you have any projects with which I can assist, I’d be glad to help.

great job! but with dimension, I will use servo motor or closed loop stepper…not a good thing, loose steps after hours of work.
what kind of screw do you use?

Stepper motors don’t lose steps if they are properly sized for the job. If the correct size is used, the likelyhood of losing steps is the same as a servo motor passing back incorrect feedback.

It doesn’t look like that machine is moving a particularly heavy gantry or spindle so steppers are fine. Large mills need larger servos because they move 500lb spindle heads and 700lb tables.
