heated mold

hi, have you ever built a heated composite mold? I know there are flexible heaters that can be incorporated in the mold. Have you never used?
I have also try with carbon fibre, size about 100x 20 cm with 30 Volt reaches a temperature of about 50 °C.
Have you ever tryed?

We have a coating, which heats up after a voltage is applied. Up to 500 degrees C if it needs to be.

Water or oil heated/cooled moulds are also possible, by incorporating copper tubing in the mould.

that sounds almost to perfect

Can I find it ? It’s a gel coat or different? I do a sheet with 2 x 500 gr glass + 1x 200 carb + 2x500 glass, then applye voltage at carbon. It has reached 50° C.
see this video, at 1:30. I have do the same

Very interesting!
Where could it be possible to see a real application onto a heated mould.
The web site is not much help about the details of application and electric connection/energy needed.

i’m looking info in Italy about this coat…vediamo se trovo qualcosa

I just found your old post

A quote from the Email I got:

thank you for your inquiry regarding samples and information of our product Carbo e-Therm.

I am sorry to inform you that, due to the rapidly increasing amount of requests, we are not able to send free product samples.
We can offer you our Carbo e-Therm LT Demo-Kit:

A suitcase containing everything you need to make first experiences with Carbo e-Therm by your own application.
The suitcase contains a power supply, cables and clips, contact negatives, a film for coating and 250ml of Carbo e-Therm.
You can order the Demo-Kit at a price of 100€ plus shipping costs.

The selling prices for our Carbo e-Therm are scaled as follows:

0,5ltr. = 175,50€

Please note that all the prices above are without shipping costs.

I ordered the suitcase, and a liter of goo."

…very cheap!!! :D:D:eek:

The demo kit is not so expensive.
I have to heat a 3sqm mould. I hope I don’t have to rent a nuclear plant to make it run…
Please keep us updated.
PS: di dove sei?

the demo kit isn’t expensive…but it’s 250 ml… 1 L = about 4 m2…

ps…provincia di Treviso e tu?

Pescara. Piacere.

piacere mio

Treviso? Say hi to Claudia at Selcom (Multiaxials)

I don’t know Claudia…but Selcom is about 25 km from me, at Vittorio Veneto…between the hills of prosecco
I don’t know this company, I’m not a company so I can’t buy from them

If you ever need something from them, let me know. They are beautifully situated in the mountains. Claudia also has a holiday home that she rents out. Making for a nice “composites” holiday: Enjoying a stay in the beautiful Prosecco area, and a guided tour in the factory…

currently researching heating molds and platens myself. this may be very helpful for determining how much wattage you may need for your application rather than just taking a stab.

thanx
where is holiday home? have you ever been in “cansiglio”, mountain rear vittorio veneto? saturday and yesterday hillclimb car race…yesterday wet race…this video is about 2010…but crazy Zardo, always nice to see

I book for a factory tour

tests of this evening…carbon + glass with 30 V
sorry for the photo, but cel resolution
1 - sheet carbon+ glass with 30V
2 - carbon temperature without resin
3 - test infusion of 2x200carbonK + 8x500 glass + 1x416 carbon
numbers ( 0, 1.06, 2.40) are the time after infusion, the others (-0.84, -0.8, -0.6) the intake pressure of the resin
4 - test infusion placed on the heated sheet (room temperature about 13 °C), then increased to 50°C
5 - …bye bye transformer… :frowning:

all temperature are in °C

I have about 6 Aluminium Moulds all heated by 240Volt elements set into the mould surface - 8mm recess CNC so the element fits “snug” around the perimeter of your tooling, this is thermo controlled up to 115 deg C if required, I cover each tool with a silver building insulation lined foam box for cooking, these have been working for me for over 10yrs without any problem, PM me for further info?.
