Nice job dude , can you show any of your moulds ? I was wonder how you get through flanges for infusion on such parts like front hugger ?!
Those are some amazing pieces. Why arenāt those wheels carbon fiber as well? Just kidding, sort of. I remember long ago some place was making carbon fiber wheels for bikes.
BST is the leader in CF wheels at the moment.
George love the work! Congrats.
you use gelcoat in the mold correct?
thxs m8,
yes, I always use geal coat before make the parts. The gel coat give me the opportunately to work (sand, corrections etc) on the part. If you check the easy composites, there is a new poly gel coat that is compatible with epoxy resin. The results are really magnificent.
You mean you use transparent gelcoat as first layer instead of resin?
yeap, transparent gelcoat
Is this type of gel coat sold in the USA? I know easycomposites ships to the states but is there anything like this sold by companies that are already in the states? The parts look awesome! Iād really like to achieve this kind of finish on my parts.
correct me if iām wrong, but you should be able to use clear epoxy gel coat just as easily, the only downside being that it is most likely not UV stable. Alternatively an in-mould coating on a polyurethane basis would also be nice.
cheers
I know
www.fibreglast.com
has a clear UV stable PE gel coat. I have used it, and it is nice, however I have never tested its compatability with epoxy resins.
