Easy Composites Semi perm release agent

Guys, in the past i’ve been using wax and pva to release from a GRP mould and wax alone for alloy molds. I always get clean releases if i keep the temp down.
I’ve recently got some semi perm release which consists of a cleaner and sealer combined with release agent

I’ve followed the instructions of the release agent and applied 6 coats to a new GRP mould. I’ve tested with some sticky tape but it still sticks:confused: but water beads and runs right off. Have i missed something? I have no confidence that this will work:eek:

Anyone else use release agent from Easy Composites?

Why have u changed from something that works?? You have not said if your raisimg your temperature

Now its getting cooler I’ll have to heat things up a little but the main reason is to reduce the prep work on glass when making sheet.
Thought i’d try a grp first mould instead of 2sqm of glass.

Ease problems.as long as your mold has been wet sanded using 1500 grit,then cutting compound you should have no problems.

I’ve never gone down to 1500 grit on a grp mould but always get a gloss finish plus a clear coat.
Probably gone down as far as 1000 but deffo no cutting compound.
Its easy to see the effects of the wax but theres very little change to the mould finish with semi perm…it does ‘feel’ slippy though.

Might bite the bullet tomorrow…

Did you use the sealer as well?

The sealer is combined in with the release agent.

never did a tape test, and sometimes rely on tape sticking sometimes (to hold consumables in place), but the parts always come off. SOME tapes might stuck more than others. FlashBreaker sticks, but I have issues using white 3m vinyl. shrugs You are prob’ ok if it’s sealed and coated per directions.

Never used this stuff only Frekote but I would think the tape wouldn’t want to stick. :confused:

Well this is on hold for now. I should have checked the supplies when i received them 2 months ago…i was sent plain not twill!:mad:
Oh well ill apply the release to glass tonight so i can use the CF for sheets.

Wet layed 2 layers of 1sqm 200gsm twill and vac bagged. I’ve never had a laminate release from a mould without a battle. This lifted off with the peel ply and breather!

And the finish?..perfik!
