Alright guys, I want to show some cool pictures of my project. I am making a 1997-2004 Carbon fiber targa top for a chevy corvette C5
Looking nice… Get the resin through!
this looks awesome. what CF weight are you using? are you using straight CF or a core material in addition to it?
Is this just a skin or is there a substructure mold also ?
The resin is on the way )))
I am using 2x2 twill 5.7oz and the reinforcing with 2x2 Twill 19.7oz . No core. Only pure carbon.
This will be a full structural lower part of the targa top.
Adding more reinforcing material- 19.7oz pure 2x2 twill carbon
looking good!
Cleaning up from PVA ( release agent)
Once its trimmed, let us know how stiff it is when twisted ?
i already trimmed and let it fully cure for a week and i can tell you for sure, it’s stiff enough I probably be able to stand on it with my weight.
Looks really good…
That is great! What are you using to secondarily bond the the two halves with ?
I am using a -"Lord Fusor Plastic Bonding Adhesive (Slow) " $38 on ebay. That thing bonds very well.
Very nice. Why no core?
No need for a core. It’s very strong and light.
