I wanted to develop a composite mold with inbuilt electrical heating with infusion process. anybody done it before? how should i do it?
Determine which heat source you would like to use. Heat wire? Carbon? Carbon coated glass? Products like Carbo-E-Therm (www.futurecarbon.de)? Copper tube with hot water / oil? (can be used to chill the mould as well)
Basicly you want the heat to reach the part. Also you do not want the heat to have effect on the mould. So select tooling materials that can withstand the heat, if using wire or tube, keep this away from the mould surface. Use materials that transfer heat well (alu filled materials, or pitch based carbon). Insulate the other side of the laminate.
You can also use silicone heat blankets and a controller. This is widely used.
