Car Carbon Panel Using Infusion

Hello guys,
I’m currently doaing a trial on car front hood/bonnet using infusion system. Here is the details

  1. Carbon 2x twill 300 gsm x 2
  2. CSM 450 gsm x 1
  3. Resin Ortho Polyester - 20-30 minutes gel time.
  4. End side to end side resin propogation.
  5. Full bar vacuum
  6. No gelcoat applied.

Issue:

  1. Happy with the infusion but since we need the carbon look surface, the carbon look flatten (pressure perhaps)
  2. I also had tried with gelcoat application (apply caron on tacky stage), but it worsen than no gelcoat.

Does anyone here running the carbon part using infusion?
if this flatten cannot be avoided if using infusion, what kind of rework can we done to settle the flaten look carbon?

hope can get some idea from all the experts here.

You can use the MTI hose and over saturate the laminate with resin. You will have a resin rich part, but it does not look flatten.
But you should use a longer gel time.

And make sure you have infusion resin. It needs to stay thin for a long period.

Owh ok… i 'll try this one. but longer gel time with vacuum on along curing time?
