Any Issues with Kevlar/Epoxy?

Hi,

First post here. I’m curious about working with kevlar for some selective reinforcement. I know it is a pain to cut when cured but I plan to not have it reach any of the edges of my finished product.

Are there any adhesion issues with using carbon fiber/kevlar/carbon fiber? Kevlar in the middle of the laminate?

I’ve used the hybrid carbon/kevlar cloth before and never gave it much of a thought, but then I read in the forums somewhere about certain resins not bonding well to kevlar and it got me thinking…thanks.

I believe it’s polyester and vinyl ester resins that don’t bond very well with Kevlar.

Allegedly it’s something to do with the cross-linking of epoxies versus esters.

I’ve done lots of Kevlar work with epoxy and have had nothing but good results!

epoxy will make a good bond and saturation with kevlar.
