Anyone have experience with zyvax semi permanent release systems? How would you rate it.

yes, I have used it before, works well, high slip(beware if spraying gelcoat). but it really depends on your application, if you tell me your process and size of your parts I may be able to recommend somethin better

Man, I always get laminating epoxy stuck on my molds. usually it takes rubbing them off with a popsicle stick then follow that by fine sandpaper sometimes if necessary. Will semi-perm release fix this problem of epoxy resin sticking to my epoxy molds?

I use meguiar’s mold release wax - about 3 coats inbetween each pull, then 1.5 mils of pva after that. I still get epoxy sticking to my mold in some small spots.

I dont use zyvax but I use frekote, every seller told me that: zyvax its imitate of Frekote. Brobably it`s the same but I use frekote.

I aply only 4-5coats of 770-nc and neved had sticking.

I’m using Frekote FMS to seal my polyester molds, then Frekote WOLO as a release agent. I’ve used just about every semi perm on the market and this combo is my favorite. The parts practically fall out of the mold!!!

Are the parts polyester too?

Yes, poly or epoxy based parts. I don’t think anything will stick to it. :wink:

How much volume of Frekote do you guys think it would take to coat approximately 20 sq ft of mold area? Also is it a two-part system?

edited(sorry about that)… Where online can i buy frekote 770 and the frekote sealer? What is the sealer product name?

This sounds like the way to go for me. I do not mind pva and wax but this seems better.

its one part system and its like a water

for 20 sq ft of mold area I think it`s less than 70ml for all 4-5coats

manual said: 1 coat after pulled one part from the mold

I googled who sells it… www.sollercomposites.com has it in the aerosol spray can and 1 quart containers. $20 for the aersol or $30 for a quart. NorthernFiberglass also sells it, but i think those guys only do high volume sales.

I don`t use aerosol spray, first time when I spray 4 coats it was to much, plug was mat finish and then I spend 2 days for cleaning the hood :mad:

frekote PMC it`s cleaner for frekote 770-nc etc.

1: 20sq foot…hmm. not much. you wet a rag, and wipe it on. I don’t measure, but one gallon can will last a LONG time, even if recoating once every pull (which is unneeded)
2: It’s a Hysol/Loctite brand. Sealer is 55 I think? We use 700NC for high-temp stuff. Works like a dream except for glass/PP thermoplastics. PP loves to stick to stuff.

anybody has an online store that sells any of these semi perm releases, and ships to europe? i’ve been talking to loctite here, and they just don’t have any frekote in stock… :frowning:

not sure about Europe. Maybe sollercomposites.com will ship to Europe, not sure.

any in the uk? I use honey wax and its good for small parts but larger moulds i wouldnt trust it.
