For some reason I am getting wrinkling sections sporadic in different areas each time, I thought it might had been old gel coat, so I pulled out some new clear geal coat that I have always used and it happened again, this time worse, I catalyzed at 2% and the pot life is perfect, I know it’s not contamination because I wax and also use partal #10 giving a good barrier, the only thing I can think is I may be a little thin on the gel coat, ambient temperature is 70 to 71, so if I am on the thin side im thinking is it because the layer of clear gel coat can’t take the heat of the vinyl Ester and then is weak and wrinkles.
Pics would help but it’s been my experience that gelcoat failures are almost always operator error. Sounds like “gators”. Cause is too thin film thickness. Gelcoat needs to be a minimum of about 12-15 mils wet to cure and should really be 22-24 mils wet for good coverage.
