ive made this and its just a flat plate,i made a mold for it but im wondering if its worth the hassle? if i made just a square flat plate i could draw the shape on and cut it out but then again if im going to the hassle of making a square plate i may aswell make the mold so i would at least have trim lines in place…
i did a mold to make this one but it got damaged, debating if i should do another?

hmm… you going to sell a lot of them? Youc can make flat sheets and have them waterjut cut. i bet there are several waterjet cutting places near you
…plate it to get many per same lay up (large sheet of glass / alum / steel / etc…) and then you can bandsaw (invert the blade) to withing less than an 1/8" of the master router template and actually profile router them out, but it will kill router bits over a short time. They are resharpenable…
GT,
I have seen you mention trim lines before. Can you explain specifically what you mean? Do you somehow mold thm into the part?
Thanks,
Chris
If you score the plug, the mold will come out with raised trim lines. Then the finished part will again have a scored trim line, and you can cut each molded piece easily.
If you don’t mind me asking what is that for? I would go with the router option as it can be done in house quickly and cheaply sans the bits. Water cutting is quite prevelent in all areas of the country but that is outsourcing and it could cost you. Plus turnaround time could be longer than wanted. Don’t water cutters damage product time to time?
