Work Stations & Fabric Racks

Show us yours

I’m thinking of later on building a fabric rack similar to this 6 roll rack.

It’s nice to have new ideas. I also just thought about a “rotisery” style rack. You turn the rotisery to the desired roll, then lock the rotisery in place.

I’ll sell you one of these for $395. A lot cheaper and holds 12 rolls of fabric.

Or just above this thread that is a stuck…

Ok, how about your work stations ?

This is my 10’x5’ cutting table.

Oh, I would LOVE to have a rotary style rack! No more moving everything to turn the rack around, or switching 100lbs rolls!!

No pics, but my old job was 4x8 foot glass topped tables. Real crappy legs though, we almost killed me by putting too much on it, and the feet bent and toppled the table!

here, they are just plastic topped table for cutting, and steel tables for infusing.

Hmm, i’ve got an old glass top table i may have to use temporarily. Nice idea.

I recently bumped my ass against my glass worksurface and broke a big piece off. Doh!

Anyone ever consider hanging the rolls from the rafters? I was thinking of using pulleys and keeping the rolls covered with plastic sheeting. Hell, I may go buck wild and drop $50 on that electric hoist/winch at Harbor Freight!
I’m trying to maximize floor space in the garage.

How about vertical storage? Like an upside down swiveling stool, only bigger and stronger? The only issue would be keeping the fabric from sagging and wrinkling.

Ouch, and I’ll tell ya, Rez doesn’t have much of a butt!:rolleyes:

I had been thinking along the same lines of the rafters idea for cardboard open face wrapping for shipping packaging.

Glass works well, but dulls knife blades, of course. I have a
1/4" thick piece of Polyethelene covering my cutting table. It’s lasted over 5 years.

HDPE will work better than LDPE.

That’s what i need a 5x8 sheet of HDPE only 1/8 thick or 1/4 thick.

I’m thinking now how i want to build my fabric rack ( no offense whomever offered to sell me one )…i’m just poor right now :frowning: Especially since i’m not selling parts… well one part is sold but not made yet.

I may have to go to HomeDepot and price some wood lol… FastRR hops in the Orange #20. yeah… I wish

Anyone run across good ideas for a rotary rack design ? I’m attempting to engineer an electric driven “floor to ceiling” type of roll rack. Much like the systems at Home Depot that they use for bulk rolls of electric cords etc.

Looks like it’ll require two sets of large diameter gears ( likely from car flywheels)…and a custom length chain drive with special made welded rotating fasteners. Pipes used for all cross-bars.

In a nut shell…it rotates from low to high, front to back, not just in a single plane circle would.

Not too indifferent from a hotdog stand x 2.

I just have been offered this one:

But you want this one: (with more storage pipes)

Herman…yes ! Your correct good sir. Where did you find that picture ? I’d like to get a larger/higher resolution of it.

That is a really nice rotary rack by the way. Looks like its been water-jet cut out and has all the right bits.

Nice, huh?

Type in Google “roll storage” and hit “image search”. Presto. Plenty to choose from, and I took one randomly.

Sometimes they come for sale when a carpet store goes belly-up. They just need to be shortened (or not)

Velcro straps to hold the fabric on the roll. FREAKING BRILLIANT!

I like that too. I’m still using stretch wrap to secure my rolls while not in use.

The one I want to build won’t be inventory computer operated like the large industrial Home Depot units of course…but hopefully the same otherwise.

What is everyone else using that have 5 or more rolls in stock ?
