Wish it was cooler climate here

I guess this could be “off topic” but it’s kinda on topic.

I’m always having to wait until evening to work with per or gel coat outdoors. Indoors is not an option at this time. I wish it were 20F degrees cooler here so i could get some molds and lay ups done. :frowning:

I may have to go to home depot to buy an awning for my patio, where i do the per and gel coat work.

Any other ideas? It’s around 103-110F outdoors. Indoors like is say doesn’t appear to be an option for now.

When doing tooling gel coat as the first step of mold building, can i lay peel ply on top of it once it B- stages so i can then come back and do my fiberglass and resin layers the next day? Or will I be risking delamination that way?

Use less % of MEKP in hot conditions. Also, watch out for mass build up as that will extrotherm or excessive heat reacion.

Buy a small digital or a triple beam scale at a pawn shop or head shop.

Here in the UK it doesnt really get hot enough to adversely affect composite work, but on the few days it has been hot this year, working with PER is pretty difficult.

I’ll see how this latest mold comes out in a day or two. It was done in 98F degrees outdoors.
