Winter project!!! Mactercraft pro-star 190 parts production.

I found my new passion and have fell in love with this boat. It’s simple design and style is right up my alley.

My main project is to build a composite rudder using brass or cres machined pin and composite fin with a stainless leading edge.

Carbon cup holders and dash plate.

Ballast bench back seat using foam cell and electric ballast control.

Carbon nose and motor box ducts.

all carbon of course. Parts are very hard to find and with rudders nearing 500 I am super confident I can produce a superior rudder that functions and grabs maximum attention!

I’d like to cover all years but I’m stuck with my 87 and luckily many parts will work on most all late models.

Also have a few people urging me to build tOoling for polycarbonate wind screens. As replacements are very rare. There is a small market of loyal restorers that seems to embrace any addition to the limited supply of parts for these craft.

Anyone have suggestions or do’s don’ts with this type of project?

Did you just get the boat? Got any pics for us? Not sure what the weather is like out in VA but we only have about 30days or less left in this boating season.

Woah! a composite rudder for a MC. I’ve never seen this, and with the crowd MC attracts I could see you having a good market. Foam cored? And what resin? I would think VE would be the choice since it’s what MC uses.

Dunno how you wanted to make the mold for the cup holders but that was a PITA for me when I used PE/CSM/and brushes to make the mold off the stock cup holders.

Are you going to make the ballast tank? Or just buy one from Overtons and put it under the back seat? What about the pickup? Drill a hole in the hull?

That would be nice if you to posted how you do the windshield. I swear every year two people in our boat club or online forum break a windshield panel. I’m guess alittle beer is what helps them…

I think a solid core (still composite) would be preferred. High density high stregth epoxy with fine carbon chop and microballons will make a solid core.

I plan on composite tools and using a reusable silicone bag

Any updates or pics of the boat/rudder? With Twodollardug gone for work I’ve got an itch for another build thread.
