Where do you do your trimming and what do you use

So far I have been doing all my trimming outdoors so I don’t have to deal with the dust, and I’ve been using a dremel with a carbide cutting wheel. Unfortunately I don’t have access to a band saw or anything like that.

I imagine that some of you have indoor shops set up and do cutting inside, how do you get around the problem of dust getting everywhere? a vacuum fan might be a solution but how well does it really work?

 I do almost all my cutting at my boss’ company, in the deburr room. We’re set up with 4 dremel tools, manual mill/drill. I wish I could always use his deburr room and tools. Air conditioned, nice carpet covered bench, shop vac, etc.

Don’t be jealous though lol, a time will come when i’ll have to do it at my apartment with some plastic sheeting on the ground outside. Dremel style.

I myself have been wondering how one of those hobbyist jig saws would work… you know the bench top stationary scroll saws.

make a vacuum table

I have thought about that but I don’t have any idea where to get started.

Also, I would assume that it doesn’t get ALL the dust but rather the majority, I really don’t want ANY dust in my home. :frowning:

I should have kept in touch with my shop teachers from highschool…

all it requires is a large wooden box with a mesh table surface and shop vac or blower system to suck all the dust. works well if built well

I don’t understand the mesh surface part.

It’s used as the table top in order for the dust to fall/be sucked downwards while having a resting surface for the part.

Just a thought

Could you modify an adult air hockey table (8ft long) and turn it into a vaccum table?

You can pick them up off flea bay for next to nothing

Or would the holes be too small?
