whats going on here then?

pva’d the mold a few weeks ago and brushed on ploy gelcoat today, after about 3 hours i returned to find this.the mold is only 1mm deep, the part is a flat plate but i made a mold for easy cut lines.the gel seems to have briged the step as well as these strange lines…

another pic

I have never seen that before?

Are you saying that the gel coat is only 1mm thick? If it were thicker than that, I could say that was contributing to the cracking. Also, are you running your mix hot or cold? Meaning, 1%, 1.5%, 2%, etc.

it was around 1.5%.i mean the drop from the flange to th ebase of the mold is 1mm,i dont know how thick the g coat is,i just brushed it on.

Did you store that mold in a hot place? I’ve had PVA pull away from a mold when it’s overheated.

i’ve had something like that happen, for me it was old gel coat, and the other time it was old catalizador.

well i peeled it off today and im non the wiser, the surface againat the mold is super smooth and i cant ‘feel’ the cracks, they appear to be on the isde of the gel coat you would laminate onto.strange. :?

what type of surface coat are u using??? it happened to me when i used polyes. gel coat… not good for painted parts. it will peal and criple your plug. even if u have wax or a release. MIGHT worked if u use PVA but im leaving the gel coat world… to stinky, and not good to work with if its not sprayed.

might be whats happening here
