What resin?

I am doing resin infusion with epoxy and want to know what resin you guys use? Where can I get it from? I am in the UK.

Try Sicomin, they are based in France. Excellent range of resin in a large range of viscosity.

and they have a dealer in the UK…

Indeed their resin is very good. For infusion, try the SR8100 series, with either the 8731 series hardeners, or the 8822 series hardeners.

Can you get it in the uk or do they ship it over?

Their distributor definately carries stock. So do I for Sicomin in the Netherlands:

What are you using now?

I’d suggest contacting any resin suppliers you can find, and see what epoxy resin they recommend for infusion. Look for a viscosity of about 600cps or lower, and a service temp that works for what you’re making.

I am using the infusion resin that carbon mods supply but it cost alot so I wanted to see if I could get it cheaper!

do you have a data sheet with it? chances are they are just buying it in in bulk, putting it into smaller containers and selling it on with there name on it. It wouldnt surprise me if the data sheet actually says what resin it is!

No info comes with anything they sell just says infusion resin!

anything on the website? By law them have to be able to supply you with a safety data sheet. the tech data sheet is often with this or sometimes even the same document

on the side of the tub there is the safety info but nothing else. Says on there site

This high performance epoxy resin has been specifically formulated for use in resin infusion composites production.
As an infusion resin it is ultra-low viscosity ensuring that is is able to quickly infuse through a range of reinforcements. Its excellent mechanical strength makes it ideally suited for use with high performance reinforcements such as carbon fibre and aramids like Kevlar.
To ensure adequate time for the infusion to take place the resin has a pot life of 90 minutes. At 25 degrees full cure is reached in 24hrs however elevated temperature cure at up to 120 degrees will cure the resin in under 2hrs and further inprove the mechanical properties of the finished part.

And thats it!

I am sorry for the black and white picture, but that is a lot of bullxxxx on the can.

If it fully cures in 24 hours at RT, why does it still improve with higher temps? A more-than-full cure?

Ultra-low viscosity? define “low”.

i am not saying the stuff is worthless, but the non-info is…

The hardening characteristics of some resins depend on the temperature of the cure. Those resins will crosslink at regular temperature but when cured with heat the added temp aids the reaction to create more bonds.

The rest of the stuff - no idea.

This is the tech data on it that I can find, It comes from there new ‘sister’ companys website that now deals with all of there supplies
