I need to make a mold of a part that is made out of injected PU foam. The foam is around 160 kg/m3 density, closed cell (rigid).
On one side of the plug i have a PU foam, but on the other side, the foam has some king of a rubber coating (looks like a vinyl/leather replica coating).
I need to preserve the plug, as it does belong to my car and i really don’t want to damage it, so i’m not sure of what should be the best release agent to use, if only PVA or should i wax it first? ( not sure if it will be easy to wax that type of material).
My idea is to build a mold with a gel coat and some layers of fiberglass and epoxy resin.
The mold will be used to make also PU foams parts (as the original plug, but not injected, just poured).
After the mold is ready to use, i was planing to wax it(4 to 5 coats) before pouring the PU foam.
Is this enough for small production line or should i use a semi permanent release agent?
