Just wondering what paint gun do you guys use to spray clear coat, tip size, and type of compressor you use.
Iwata 400 is a good gun and most clear coats say 1.3 size tip. If you are painting small parts you won’t need a large compressor but i think most guns when you buy them or look up the specifics will say what cfm compressor is needed.
The Iwata is around $400
if you want a gun that sprays almost as good as the Iwata and cost less get an Astro Pnuematic gun line for around $100 and it sprays very good. I think it’s a Chinese knock off of the Iwata. It’s the only Chinese gun professional painters will use.
I am thinking about DeVilbiss Startingline, to limit my budget around $100 to $150, but don’t know if this is the best gun for the budget.
BTW when you shoot clear over finish carbon parts, do you usually sand the surface before you paint or you can just paint over the part without any sanding. I’ve heard if you use a really good gun you don’t even need to sand the part first.
