Obviously I need fabric. What K count should I use? 3x3, 6x6, or 12x12? What Epoxies should I use? What else do I need?
Thanks in advance.

Patrick,
Go with the 3K count. Use the thicker one for reinforcement if you need it. There are tons of epoxy out there but I think most people use System West with the 205 hardener. You will also need automotive clear coat, UV protected of course, and that should do for now.

what do i do if the weave separates?
You should use blue masking tape to prevent the fabric from separating.
do you put it on the back of the cf? If you do, how do you attach the cf to the product that you are wrapping it to?
Actually, you should put the tape on the outside edges. Just cut your fabric with enough wiggle room and not the exact same size as the piece that you’re covering. The masking tape is just there to prevent your weave from coming apart.
I tape both the front side and the rear. Cut the extra off later once dried.
I’m a newbie at CF. I was wondering is there a procedure somewhere or write up that i can look at to get started? I just want to wrap little stuff here in there suchs as interior parts or whatever.
thanks for you help
Try this one: http://www.bryanf.com
It’s down right now so hopefully it will be back later. In the mean time I will try to find you another link or write something up.
first off, let me thank those who are responsible for setting up this informative forum. i’ve been curious about the process for quite some time now and have been meaning to do more research into carbon composites but havent had the time due to my commitments at college. i’m glad i stumbled onto this site from bimmerforums.
i am also curious as to how one would get started making their own carbon fiber products. i’ve read every thread on here and it appears you guys have covered the materials very well. however, i have no clue what to do with those materials or even where to begin. is this something i can feasibly do from my garage? what kinds of products can be made from this process? can someone provide a brief overview of the process of making a replacement part in carbon fiber? lets say i wanted to make carbon fiber engine covers.
any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.
I will try to make a basic write-up some time today and make it available for everyone. So bear with me. Thanks,
Evan
