What is carbon honeycomb weave?

Soller Composites sells a fabric they call honeycomb weave under specialty weaves. It is described as 13x18 243 gsm, but there is no information about how this weave is made or what it is best used for. I can call Soller on Monday, but seeing as this is Saturday, I was wondering if anyone here knows what it is for or how it is made.

It’s just a fabric that has a honeycomb pattern in it for cosmetic applications. It’s made like any other woven fabric, the weaver just programs the loom for a different pattern. See page two of the MTI Hose thread where one of the 12"x12" plates I made had the visual layer with this material.

Just created a new thread to help show how a weave can be created.

Thank you for the answer and posting those very interesting and informative videos. I haven’t watched them in entirety yet, but will do so now.

Can you possibly suggest one or two companies that provide this kind of custom weaving? I’d be curious to read their websites.

Pretty much any weaver can weave what you need. But if you try to buy from a large weaver you will find yourself buying multiple rolls as they don’t sell by the yard. The price per yard will be great though.
