What do you use for protective clothing?

I do some wet layup and when moving the moulds, I get a lot of resin on my clothing. I typically use old clothes for a couple of weeks then throw it out.

I tried leather aprons but they didn’t last long. Recommendations anyone? Maybe a rubber apron with wax applied?

I usually use a 3M disposable body suit when making a mold and toss it when I’m finished making the mold. I also have what looks like a doctors lab coat I wear when making parts it usually
Lasts me about -3 weeks or so of constant use

I use Tyvek disposible aprons and disposible gloves. The gloves last one session but the apron lasts for weeks. I use infusion process. It is the cleanest method I’ve used.

On gloves: if you expect things to get real messy, wear 3 gloves over each other. That way you can rip one set, and immediately have a new set available. (a bit like the tear offs on helmets)

Regular plastic aprons save your cloths, and are cheap enough to discard after a single use.

On the subject of gloves - I didn’t know until recently that plain disposable gloves do not provide much protection. I think I read/heard about 10 seconds after contact with resin? Nitrile gloves are the way to go - but you still have to be mindful as chemicals will still penetrate after 30 minutes or so. Possibly sooner depending how much mess you get on your hands.

Most of what I make is ‘wet-lay’…trousers and tops generally last me about 9 months before I bin them and I do this full-time.

I can only imagine that you lot are messy and akin to a child learning to eat!
