Wet Lamination of Sandwich Panel

Hello Everyone,

As part of my current project I am looking into wet lamination of composites. I would like to do this over a sandwich panel (consisting of an aluminum honeycomb core with a fibreglass skin) with the edges of the panel connected/bonded to steel tubes. I would also like to wrap the composite over the tubes using wet lamination as well.

Since this is a first timer for me, I am not 100% sure about the process involved such as the material required, the resin required, the technique etc. If you can provide any suggestions as to the best way to do this or even good websites to see or companies (prefferably in N.America) to contact, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Regards,

Sanjiv

Any drawings to see what you are talking about?

Wet lay up of honeycomb is done on a flat panel / mold and while the resin is still wet place the honeycomb in, compress and let it cure. But if the resin has any surfacing agent, this won’t work as it is wax.

Or wet lay up the 1st layer and let it cure. Add adhesive to lay up and apply honeycomb and compress…

…but to add a tube to this?

Would this be a kayak paddle?
