I don’t know of any addatives that can do what you are asking. To make clear resin thicker would require more plastic resin in the resin itself. So that is a manufacturing process of the resin itself.
Not sure if West makes a thicker clear hardener… if so I haven’t heard of it.
Usually clarity and thickness are properties of the resin, not the hardener.
but who knows, maybe West does make a clear thicker hardener.
As was already stated, with epoxy systems, West System in particular, because there is more epoxy than hardener, the overall thickness of the mixture has more to do with the initial epoxy thickness than the hardener.
West System does make a special clear hardener, which makes for very slow cures - http://westsystem.com/ss/207-special-clear-hardener
Email the company, I know they make other products not listed on the West System website - they have a special laminating resin for sure, don’t know what else.
Surface coats and laminating resins are very different products and are made to achieve different results.
Buy a proper surface coating, and buy the right resins for the job.
So what clear, colourless and non cloudy surface coat would you suggest ?
Are you looking for polyester, vinylester, or epoxy coatings?
Epoxy surface coats are usually black or white, but the esters are very common in clear and it shouldn’t be too hard to find.
Hi Tet, to be honest all i want is a clear thick resin or gel coat that i can use as my surface coat that can nicely show the CF that is under it,
weather that be PE, Vinylester or epoxy im not fussed,
on my other thread in the main chat room you can see what problems im having and also that the gel coat isnt brilliantly clear, ive been told thats due to the thickening bit in the gel coat,
Thread is called Vacuum Bagging help
I would be very greatfull for your input
