Weights and thickness

What’s the best way to calculate the finished thickness of a composite part?

And, is it consistent across materials? For instance, if I’m using 6 oz. fiberglass cloth and replace it with 6 oz. carbon fiber cloth, am I going to end up with the same thickness?

The carbon will come out thicker and heavier. This is because the density of carbon (1.8 g/cc) is lower than glass (2.55 g/cc). Since the density is lower there is a greater volume of fiber to saturate = more thickness and more resin.
