VER or PER for an overlay?

Has anyone had any success with using VER or PER for an overlay??? I ran out of epoxy and I have to have an overlay done by tuesday and I have to order all my epoxy and it will not even be here till thursday, so has anyone really used ver or per for an overlay and had reasonable success??

If you’re working with a plastic part then it’s a negative. VER is worse than PER, but overall they’re both terrible.

yeah it is a dash that is plastic underneath, I have sanded it it and gave it some pretty good texture.

If you must try, just use PER with a few layers of fiberglass underneith. So even if it lifts off it’ll still stay stiff instead of bubbly soft.

well I guess I can next day air me some epoxy and see if i can get a little extension, what epoxy were you using again for overlays? I have a little bit of system 3 general purpose and a little bit of west system 105. Which would you rather use out of the 2? I can at least get a coat or resin on it till it comes

I’ve done quite a few overlay but never really asked some questions, do you guys super77 your fabric on first too? How many layers of epoxy do you put on?

I haven’t used System 3 general purpose so I can’t say. I also haven’t overlayed anything in the last 2 years or so so I don’t know what to tell you either.

well at least you tried :slight_smile: were you able to get the price on the roll of V carbon and a roll of regular 5.7oz 2k? both in 60"

west doesnt like to adhere either. it shrinks alot. … i use west systems. works pretty good but as far as it sticking to plastic… not very good id drill holes in the dash all over the place and throw flock in the epoxy for a strong bond and i think youd be ok.

If you don’t have a buyer for that s2000 dash yet let me know when you’re finished with it. I have someone interested but don’t have the time to make one myself.

yeah it is sold, sorry. But I can get another one and do, I think the salt lake yard just got a coupe cars in and I might get all the dashs. I will let you know

I called and they will be in on Friday. if I get all 3 I might get for $150 if I keep in good faith and keep buying more.
