Venturi vacuum pump

I’m thinking about buying a venturi vacuum pump from Vacoon:

Does anyone have any experience with this type of vacuum pump? I can’t really find much online but the specs listed sound good. Will this be OK for vacuum bagging semi large parts? (hoods, bumpers, etc…) How does it compare to a regular vacuum pump?

Thanks

Try the search function as they have been talked to death already…

Heres a few reasons to buy a real vacuum pump, and NOT one of these:

It runs off your air compressor which will use a lot more electricity than a vacuum pump

It runs the entire time, thus making lots of noise, far more than a vacuum pump.

Buy a real vacuum pump. A venturi vacuum generator might be good for degassing or other uses where it’s needed for only a few minutes.

For some reason I searched everywhere but here… Anyways, I searched for “venturi” on these forums and still did not find the answer I am looking for… Basically my question is: will it work as well as a regular vacuum pump(like realistically pull 29in)? I will be using a very large shop compressor in a shop so noise and electricity isn’t a concern… I will also be using it for vacuum infusion if it matters.

Thanks…

No and no…saving you time and money.

Buy a real vacuum pump, the noise from the compressor will drive you crazy!!! Also you’ll might face overheating problems.

I don’t know. Normal cheapo venturi pumps will NOT handle the 29". They are normally 19$. These might work, since they are expensive, and DO claim to hit 29" BUT, it might mean you can pull a fast vacuum at first, but the closer you get to 29", the slower it will be. (Mean free space, i think?)
If energy/noise is not a concern for you at all, might as well try it.
but remember, it WILL use alot of air. You will need at least 2 hours of vacuum, depending on the resin!!! A real vacuum pump you can turn on, and leave it on, because it works better when there is a vacuum.

edit: noticed this on the site: http://www.vaccon.com/perf-hvp.aspx Shows that the closer you get to 29", the slower the vac flow becomes. I say buy it only if you have nothing to lose.
