Vacuum pump infusion for medium to large objects

Hello everyone,

I apologize for making yet another vacuum pump thread but I am not really getting the type of answer I’m looking for on the search engines.

I’m interested in buying a vacuum pump so I can began my endeavors in this hobby. I plan on starting small but would love to build something as complex as a car hood or diffuser.

Now my question is what should I look for in a vacuum pump? Do I need to look at the CFM, micron rating, or the horse power? 2 Stage or single stage? What type of ratings should I look for, for my application? I really want to get a good pump from the start so I don’t have to buy a new pump for something as large as a car hood.

Thank you for your time,

A car hood is still considered small. The smallest airco evac unit should be able to serve you well. Make sure you have an exhaust filter on it, as these units smoke. Do not expect infinite life of these pumps, but they are small.

A more industrial solution is an industrial pump. More expensive, built in regenerating exhaust filters, when treated well last a lifetime.

to give you an idea.

Herman,
