Vacuum Loss

I’ve been lurking the forums for a few day now while waiting for approval and I’ve been itching to ask some questions on things I read. So here they are

Tet stated that if you lose a vacuum its game over. Why is this and what happens?

Vacuum infusion seems to be more popular than vacuum bagging on these forums if I’m not mistaken. What are the reasons for that?

Lastly I saw a thread about pinholes in a part. What are pinholes exactly and why do you avoid them?

Thanks a ton in advance. Hopefully you don’t mind these questions. They’re the first of many

if you lose vacuum for a long period of time you will introduce air in to your laminate and have less compaction. the more air in the laminate the weaker the part. Infusion is more popular because it produces a higher quality part both in cosmetics and performance, its also cleaner than standard vacuum bagging. Pinholes accure on the surface of your part between the carbon weave. its a pain to get a nice clear coated surface because you must break the surface tension created by the pinholes in order to fill which means you must clear and sand a few times. Vacuum infusion will fill the entire weave leaving a pinhole surface ready for paint.
