Has anybody used this method and what are the pros and cons. Where would you be able to buy the supplies to do this process.

VATRM is considered an open mold process.
RTM (Resin Transfer Molding) is a closed mold system with “top” & “bottom” molds that enclose the entire laminate and usually has some sort of temperature control to shorten the curing process for higher through put.
Sorry KK, I don’t have any experience with RTM. Making a silicone molded reusable vacuum bag would be an introduction to the process. Airtech has an expensive starter kit for making a reusable “molded” silicone vacuum bag. Problems bought the kit a while back to test on a part he was making, but I haven’t heard how well it worked.
The next step up from a reusable vaccum bag would be some “hard” molded tooling with resin injection ports and vacuum ports. If no one else has direct experience, then Google should get you some examples.
