Vacuum Infusion Without Using A Probe On Vacuum Side

Hello,

I have been using an aluminum probe on the vacuum side for my infusions but they get filled with resin and are pretty expensive to screw up. I really like the simple silicone designed ones that Easy Composites sells but don’t want to pay for shipping to get them to the states. What is everyone else using?

Just stick the tube into the bag with bagging tape over and under it. It works just fine and if the resin reaches the tube you can just throw it away.

ditto.
I usually wrap a little swatch of breather cloth over the end of the tube to keep it from pulling up bagging or any other disturbance.

Cool, thanks.

Same. I stick the hose on the edge of the mold wrapped in a few layers of breather. That tube that sticks to the mold for vacuum is about 4 ft long so I can roll it and clamp it to the table. I do that so if resin gets sucked in, the resin is trapped at the bottom of the tube loop. On the end of that 3 ft tube I have a barb fitting that connects it to a 50 ft hose.

For the vacuum side can you use the MTI hose wich is resin impermeable so that no air can travel in the evacuation hose.
For the resin inlet put some tacky tape around your hose, make a small cut in your bagging film, place the hose and seal it with the tape.
Thats cheap and works perfect.

The MTI hose sounds cool, once I get a little more comfortable I will start experimenting a little.

Forget everything and start using the MTI hose. You will never go back!

I just watched the video again, it looks really cool and seems to eliminate the need for a catch pot. Ill need to get a sample and try it out.
