Vacuum infusion discussion

Many questions for this first timer. I have seen the Vacuum infusion process done many times but have never done it myself.

What type of tees are you guys using to connect your tubing to? Where are you buying them?

What type of tubing are you using? Can the aquarium line be used?

Okay here’s what i know.
*Make sure the mold is waxxed.
*Make sure there are no rough areas on the flanges to poke holes in the bag.

*Place te bagging down then the mold ontop of it. fold over (evelope style) and use the bagging tape to seal all around.

  • lay the material into the mold. Do i need to push the material into the corners? or will the vacuum suck it in?

  • amount of resin+ hardener = to amount of weight of fabric.

What do i need to put in the bagging to make sure the resin is distributed properly? I have seen a spring used on the flanges.

Where can i buy or rent some dvd’s on vacuum infusion?

The best DVD is www.GuruDVDs.com and ask for Andre Cocquyt VIP dvd.

I had Evan do a classroom VIP demo, Bondline demo and we video taped it. I have given a copy out to the video production class and some “Helpers” on here for redoing it for production. Never got any finished ones back…yet…

What would you like a DVD or Video? But it will be raw footage. How does $50 sounds (money will be spent for improvements on here on in my classroom). PM me your mailing address and I’ll give you my Paypal account to pay me.

PS: www.freemansupply.com has a great inexpensive DVD, but I don’t think they cover VIP. Just tell them you read about them on here.

PS/PS: Home Depot or other home warehouses have automatic water drip systems and that hoses and “T’s” works great. I also use a sheet metal hand shears that cuts a notch in sheet metal for notching hoses for VIP.

I think the spring you are refering to is spiral wrap. This is used to wrap electrical wiring. it can be bought in bulk or can be bought at the radio shack or other such small supply houses.
We just completed a job that produced 5 sets of parts from molds that made 39 seperate parts.
We used lots of vacuum bagging supplies.
