I’m looking for an inexpensive vacuum controller… Not a switch that shuts the pump off. I want to actually controll the amount of vacuum pressure.
Thanks

A valve which is open to atmosphere will allow you to reduce the level of vacuum. It is wise to have a filter to prevent dust and crap being sucked into your pump. However most pumps don’t like doing this for too long.
If you switch off the pump at the desired vacuum, you have what you want.
Alternatively you could rig a frequency controller to a vacuum gauge, so you can control the pump speed, but I do not see any advantage in that.
Airtech makes a vacuum regulator (PN: 021 / Vac-Reg) that operates independently of the pump, vacuum pressure is adjusted using an adjustment screw. A quick Google search should turn up some retailers that carry it.
That is a “controlled leak”. Check if your pump is happy with that.
Personally I am not too fond of controlled leak systems:
-pumps keep running, noise and money issue
-no audible “alarm” on leaks developing after infusion (when using a switch, hearing the pump turning on more and more is an indication of something going wrong.
check out a lossless vacuum regulator, doesnt harm the pump.

Good find. Until now I had only heard of the “controlled leak” method.
Easycomposites really needs to open a shop or distributorship in the US. I like them.
Have a look at the Vacmobile solution to controlled Vac. adjustable to suit every laminate application!.
