UV Cure Clear Coat

We’re looking into making a switch from 2K urethane clear coat to a UV curing clear coat. How many people here use a UV lamp to cure their clear coat? From my understanding you get a much quicker, “to sand” curing time and you don’t have to mix any hardener into it.

Any thoughts? Pros? Cons? Does anybody know any good suppliers of a UV clear system? I’ve been looking online and I can seem to only find UV cure wheel coatings.

Thanks!

John

There’s plenty of quick cure clears but they are expensive. 7 minutes tack free 15 to sand.

Agreed… My favorite clear coat right now is Sherwin Williams HPC15 but that stuff is roughly $300 a gallon. Sometimes more dpeending on where you go. Totally worth it. But it sucks when some of your parts are clear coated multiple times…

Works perfect in a pinch though :). I’d just like to be able to have a vat of UV clear where I can dip parts into, and then throw them under a UV light to cure it.

Its all about speed and production.
