Useful bike composites pics for reference

In my quest for knowledge on creating molds and CF parts I find a lot of useful reference images on the Durbahn website - http://www.honda-rc51.de/ with the added benefit and interest for me as I’m aspiring to fabricate CF parts for my trackbike and Durbahn has fabricated a lot of CF parts for a variety of very special bikes.

Anyway, the point of the thread…some useful reference photos molding and fabricating a 3 dimensional part from a 2 piece mold

Here some pics of how an air intake snorkel has been formed;

start with a rough ish collection of parts for the basic shape,

then some infill with foam to shape,

then apply filler for further shaping,

then the resulting multi piece mold

and the finished CF item.

In the finished item photo the ‘join line’ can be seen horizontally along the part where there is overlap of CF cloth.

nice work!

The rc51’s as we call them here are great bikes, love/miss mine.

I was in the works for making a tank but that’s on hold…

keep up the good work and keep posting pics!

Good pics. These will be a helpful start to those looking for info on how to make things from scratch.
