Unidirectional Infusion Problems

Hi All,

I am having trouble wetting out UD carbon in an infusion job.

Temp: 22C
pressure diff; 981mBar
resin; VE671
layer 1,3,5 200 CF twill
layer 1 & 4 UD 200 carbon
peelply and mesh flow medium

The resin traveles along the UD (i.e. down the grain)

Has anyone seen this problem or have any suggestions?

Carbon UD is a pig to infuse. Most of them that are succesful do not use a flow mesh, to slow down the resinflow. Some infuse at 90 degrees relative to the carbon UD, which also might be a solution for you. In that case the resin front is parallel to the carbon UD.
