Tooling gel on plastic parts.

Hey guys,
Its been a few years no since I have built any molds. I want to make some molds of some plastics off my ATV. I am pretty sure the tooling gel I use is polyester and I am worried it is going to react with the plastic and melt/bubble it. Does anyone know if this is the case or has any suggestions? my plastics are nearly brand new condition and I really don’t want to have to buy new ones. any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!

You’d need to test, easy for us to say it’s fine and you go ahead and do it and then it reacts.

Chances are it will react, I wouldn’t trust it. Spray PVA release agent, that will solve your problem

Thanks hanaldo! I always use pva. I just wasnt sure if that is enough to keep anything from reacting

Yeh PVA forms a physical barrier, so excluding any application errors it will protect whatever you put it on.
