to anyone interested I’ve found a good way to wet out your fabric;
by placing it inside of thicker mil clear plastic, front and back, spreading
resin is much cleaner and can check the saturation from both sides.you can also trim the fabric at this time,you can lay the fabric down without
distortion by removing the plastic on the backside do ya see!!
P.S I’ve trimmed cured fabric with a veneer router and carbide cutter.
Great tip. I also use a ribbed roller and run it accross the fabric. That helps the resin get soaked into the fabric much easier/faster AND it also pushes out the excess. It’s worth the investment IMO.
Dan, I’ve been using that technique since I started and it works rather well. I got the idea from Bryan Feldman’s carbon website and modified it to use two sheets instead of one. I hadn’t heard of anyone else using it though. I guess I didn’t invent it after all. 8)
What is exactly is a ribbed roller? Is it like the fiberglass rollers I’ve seen? Do you use the roller directly on the wet fabric or do you place a layer of plastic or release film and then apply the roller?
