Very interesting

that buckypaper was posted in 2005. If they haven’t got something good out of it yet, i doubt it was worth anyones while to continue research.
And to shield planes from lightening strikes? They do that well as is!

Sorry, just ran across it. Found it interesting (very into nano technology). Didn’t realize it was that old. The concept of smaller fibers yielding the same strength is a cool concept, if it’s ever developed.

There is tons of potential from carbon nanotubes. It may take a few decades though before they are useful as products. Take carbon fiber for example. It was first developed as a high performance fiber in 1958 and took a few decades to see it used in airplanes, race cars etc…

yeah, last I heard they finally were able to produce a full sheet (like, 60x30") of nanoforests. i think there is still a limit on the length of the tubes, but I also have heard a year or 2 ago, about twisting the tubes into yarns for weaving…
I look at what is being done, not what futurists say will be

where’s my flying car

I think he is still prototyping it…
and for some reason, I would THINK waiting FAA approval.

breaks down laughing
What, that thing has been around for what? 20 years? And still nothing?
(you mean this right? http://www.brysonmeunier.com/assets/2008/8/11/flying-car-m400.jpg )

Here’s your flying car!:

Maybe only 5 or 6 around still…

BTW Molt Taylor did composites - the TPG Taylor Paper Glass method - using Kraft Paper and Corrigated stock as core - Light weight - and easy to form.

sweet car!
but you still gotta store the wings
