Thanks to Evan! Pics of some projects I completed

Well, thanks to the help that Evan was able to give me I have been able to move forward and overcome some problems I was having. Pictured first is the 3 gauge pod (now complete) that I made at Evan’s shop. Second is a grill that I made in carbon fiber, not an overlay. Last is a center insert for an ignition cassette. This particular piece was the first one so the weave is a bit funky in the middle, but still came out good overall.

great job! What kind of screen is that?

It looks to me that it is stainless steel woven wire and I think McFadden Dale hardware has it…I just hope he does get made for typing in…

Very nice jobs…!

Thanks guys!

Hey Jim, you are right. It is stainless mesh and I got it through a race supply company. What did you mean by “I hope he does not get made for typing in…”? Did I screw something up again?

Not you, but sometimes companies don’t want to let out things and I like to help out, but maybe too much at times…LOL.

I have seen that at industry hardware stores and you might check out some in your area for a better price than a race shop…

Very nice work. What did you do on that grill to get the nice gloss?

First, I put down a clear get coat. I go back and forth on this whether to put down gel coat or just lay up straight when I know I am going to use a top coat. So, after infusing over the clear gel coat and curing, I sprayed down a clear Top Coat, sanded with 1500, and buffed. That was it. The advantage I have found to using both the clear gel coat and the top coat (seems like over kill) is that the surface is smoother. Just using the top coat, I sometimes get more fabric print through than I prefer. This way it usually only takes a single top coat to finish the piece and I minimize the sanding. Man, I really hate sanding!

took me a minute to figure out what you were talking about. I was asking what model your lcd screen is.

That is the Kenwood unit - DVD/CD/MP3/Satellite/Video. Its a really nice unit and double DIN size.

cool, that’s a nice unit. I wish it was around before I bought the z910 dvd. I am looking for a vga touchscreen but I dont like the xenarc one.

Wow, digital gauge huh? You’re a pimp racer. That grille looks sick though.

Oh yeah and the dates sound good. I should be gone the week after that but that weekend is fine.
