Does anyone have experience trimming texalium, how clean is the cut with whatever tool you used.
It generally cuts very clean because it’s quite stiff material.
its as easy as normal fiberglass. No where near as difficult as kevlar
Much better than “normal” fiberglass because it’s stiffer and doesn’t really fray.
I imagined it would be somewhat similar to fiberglass.
eww ohhh , don’t say Texalium or silver fiberglass… i’m afraid to make parts with that stuff even though I have some here:o I’m just trying to get my c/f parts to look good lol.
Why do you say that FR, will it be so much more difficult? It doesn’t look so…
it has no softness to it so it doesn’t drape. It drapes about as good as tinfoil, that and i have a feeling it may not take to sharp corners very well.
A bit like cardboard then?
Thanks!
there are at least two different companies that mfg this stuff. Hexcell and one other. The best looking one i have bought is from www.solarcomposites.com and it is a smaller oz weight than the other one.
I don’t recall who i bought the heavier stuff from.
the one i get from SolarComposites looks like a 6oz twill. The other one looks/feels more like a 9oz.
