My last creation of SUZUKI GSXR1000 K8, the Upper fairing is one unit, no connection and the total weight is 1.700 grams:
Lower fairing with 900grams:
REAR TAIL with 900grams weight and is one part all of it, no connections:
Front hugger:
All the parts are made through Infusion system and I am using 65% carbon fiber and 35% polyester. This is just to reduce the cost for the customer. Of course if someone need it in 100% carbon fiber I can created
All the parts that I creating is made through my personal standards that is special UV Protection for at least 2 year non change color to yellow, European carbon fiber that is extremely too shine, Infusion, maximum heating resistands except the surface 240C
Now, I am creating full custom for Dorsoduro 2011 with all parts in “V” stripes.
absolutely beautiful and somewhat ironic. I just came out of my garage where I put down the first gelcoat on my front hugger mold for my k6 GSXR bodywork. It is the identical part to what you made =)
VERY beautiful work, you should be proud. I can only hope that mine comes out half as nice =)
LOL, thank you Painfully
Looking good like always George! I like the V-weave.
Any tips on how you got the carbon tucked so nice in every tight craves. With no distortion or bubbles.
Any pics of the molds I would love to see the front cowl mold
Great work, I wish to be that good some day.
Thanks for the good words guys.
Theilcarbon, if you see carefull the pictures you will see the areas that I cutting the carbon fiber, especially in the rear tail. You see is very difficult to make one part like those without to cut the carbon and connect it again. I usually cut the carbon in the inside corners example: Check the first photo and you will see “V” Stripe, this is cutting in the bottom of the nose 3nd picture. Check the 4rth picture, in the middle of the panel over the gap you will see the stripes with little different lines. All this tips give you the opportunately to work with smaller cloths and you control it more easelly. Now about the bubbles is because I am make them through infusion system and this give me the opportunately to see the corners and press them more easelly. In the past when I was making the parts through usual way the extra material “breather” was a really problem for me.
Thanks for the tips, your work is awsome are all your molds single pieces or multiple ones
The mold for the upper fairing is 6 pcs :wondering: and I will try to post some photo of the mold.
Pleasedo :). Do you makeitin seperate pieces ordoyouconnectthe molds together first?
All the pieces are connected together and then start to spray the gel coat, after the infusion.
Lots of practice, patience, and trial & error will get you there.
I’d also like to know how you got the fabric in those tight corners. I bet its a plastic wedge and patience? Haha.
